Our day to day living has been made easier and more efficient with the presence of computers and other helpful computer peripherals. If you have been observing the world today, you will be able to notice that computers and computer peripherals are found almost everywhere. They can be seen inside the house, in the office, in school, in the hospital, in different commercial establishments, and even on the streets. Computers were transformed from being a luxurious object of everyday living to a necessity that makes life these days go on conveniently. Some common computer peripherals that are oftentimes bundled with a computer package are different input devices such as keyboard, mouse, scanner and microphone, and output devices such as monitor, laser printer with HP laserjet ink cartridges and speakers.

Computers will not be able to perform their functions well without the presence of computer input and output devices. They will become mere paperweights that are expensive and useless at the same time. Input peripherals are those that will allow the user to put in information inside the computer which is further processed inside the computer. Output peripherals are responsible for showing the user the final product of computer process whether in softcopy or hardcopy form.

Softcopy is the form of output that cannot be touched by bare hands but it can only be viewed via specific computer peripherals. One example is the output of information, usually called a presentation, in an LCD projector. In this example, the user is able to see his data using the LCD projector reflecting the information usually in a large white screen. Meanwhile, hardcopy output are those that can be seen without needing any special device and this type of output is usually seen on paper. A common example is a printed manuscript of the data that the user has keyed in his computer several hours ago.
